I have had a good experience at this office even though I did not get my work done there! for my exams and the staff everything was quite pleasant I was out of the office within an hour! A happy camper driving home!
Dr. Sheats was very thorough in explaining the dental procedure which made me feel comfortable. I really enjoyed her dental assistant. I cannot recall her name but she loved talking about food. She is a lovely black woman with short natural hair. I was a little nervous and she kept checking on me and the food talks kept my mind off the dental procedure and made me laugh a lot. She even gently rubbed the top of my hand when she knew I was in a little pain. She made me feel like more than a patient she made me feel like family. Thanks for the great service. It made my day!
I was able to become completely numb and not feel anything. I've always had to deal with the pain
Thank you so much for a great experience. I've gone through several since my main dentist retired about 8yrs ago and even after several injections I was still able to feel the pain of drilling and was told to stop whining by a few. Thank Dr. Sheats for listening and being such a wonderful kind gentleman with a wonderful beautiful kind staff. I appreciate it and wish yall nothing but the best
The experience at Sheats was overall a good one. The new office is really nice and the staff are friendly. Pain from procedure was pretty much non-existent, which always makes for a good visit. Keep up the good work!!
We had been referred to Dr. Sheats for a root canal for our 9-year-old because she needed sedation because of a fear. Shortly after we got there, she was taken back, but I was not allowed to go with her. Less than 10 minutes later, I hear a piercing scream and crying, and I was still not allowed to go back there. I was finally allowed to go back, and she was shaking and huge tears going down her cheeks. The assistant was speaking rudely to her, and told me I could go stand in the corner. I continued to hold my daughter's hand. The proceeded to put another needle of (I'm assuming) numbing stuff in her gum and she screamed, again. I told the lady and dentist I had wanted her to be sedated. They rudely told me she was receiving double what they normally give. I told them I didn't think it was working, and they made me feel like I didn't know what i was talking about. The dentist was arrogant, as was the assistant. They didn't care what I had to say, and my daughter was very uncomfortable. The dentist started to drill and my daughter screamed at the top of her lungs. It seemed as though she was feeling what he was doing. Finally, the dentist said we would have to come back because she wouldn't calm down. He told her she would have to go through all that pain again because she was behaving that way (what dentist says that?!). The nurse made a comment about me being on Tenncare, for which I said we had insurance through my work, and she later apologized for making that statement.
My daughter's experience was quite traumatic for her. she said she never wanted to go to a dentist again. I don't think they numbed her topically before administering the novacaine.
I found another dentist who did IV sedation. They put a gas mask on her before giving the IV, and she IMMEDIATELY became "loopy" and doesn't remember a thing. Therefore, I can only come to the conclusion that they never turned on the gas for her at Sheats or they did something wrong. There is no way they had it on double the dose and she was the way she was, especially after knowing it does work on her with just a small amount a few days later.
I will never return to Sheats. The assistant and Dr. Sheats were very arrogant with no manners to me or my daughter. The assistant was also quite rude to fellow employees, and I was embarrassed for them, too. I felt like they treated her like a rag doll or animal... Never again.
