Knowledgeable doctor, but not the right touch for me
The receptionist, Ellie, was very friendly. The office was clean, but the restroom could use some disinfecting, as the smell was sour. The assistant, Desha, seemed inexperience and had a difficult time handling the mouthpiece doing the x-rays. She jabbed my gums in the wrong angle several times. I've never had x-rays hurt before. Though a nice girl, she lacked that finesse. I observed how she dropped the ball on several details during my deep cleaning that even the dentist seemed perturbed reminding her. The energy seemed off between them. The one duty that Desha was very good at was the suction device. She knew where to keep my mouth vacuumed as the dentist was navigating the cleaning tools, so I was able to breathe clearly and not swallow any residue. For that, I'm grateful. Though Dr. Mashhood was very erudite with the health of my teeth, her method of administering the needle was the roughest I've ever experienced. All my previous dentists had a nice trick of pinching and pulling my cheek while gently injecting the anasthesia to where I could barely tell there was a needle, but Naomeh's technique was unapologetically stinging that I actually cried holding my breath through the prolonged torture. I'm trepid of going through that again. It's a shame that the numbing gel is an added fee that isn't covered by my insurance. All my life I've been blessed with positive dental experiences, but I now understand the horror stories against dentists who cause pain and trauma. My mouth wasn't feeling the love here. Too much torment. I wept for the first time.
