I am only on day three of wearing Invisalign braces and still have a very far way to go (I have to wear 44 on my top and 10 on my bottom) - with 9 very obvious and unslightly "buttons" - 4 of which are very noticable).

I feel very self consious at the moment and have been wondering whether I am able to cut down the lenght of time I wear each aligner slightly (to say 10 days). This would reduce the treatment plan by about 6 months (from 1.8 years to 1.2) and as someone who is often in client meetings and presenting, would make the world of difference.

I am otherwise very healthy and even after 3 days can feel my teeth have adjusted to the new position quite well as they are not nearly as tight as they were at the start

Don't shorten your plan. Invisalign's don't have the torque that regular braces do, so you need more time to do the job. I'm in on set #14 out of 21 wearing them 2 weeks each. I'm an actor/voice talent who adjusted to mine within hours.

After 28 weeks, no one has noticed my retainers (and I smile all the time!) and I'm in front of a microphone several hours a day with clients directing my performance. Like I said earlier, my tongue took a couple hours to adjust to the retainers, but none of my clients notice an impairment in my speech.

You may think the buttons are noticeable -- I can see mine all over my front teeth because I know they are there. But no one has noticed mine! My wife can't tell either, unless she's extremely close to me. I say, stop being self-concious, don't shorten your plan -- your teeth may not feel the pressure after 3 days but that doesn't mean they've permanently moved and won't slide back. Chill...go with the program. - W

When you're thinking about teeth straightening options, it's important to consider how it will affect your life. Since Invisalign is clear, many people won't even notice you're straightening your teeth. And the convenience of it makes it easy to remove your aligners when you're eating, drinking or even for a special event.

Hi guys

The invisible/clear ones will take longer than traditional metal braces I would advise you to ask your dentist or orthodontist. The biggest thing with adult braces is keeping them spotless. The extra travel is very compensated by the fewer visits and reduced length of overall treatment.

Thanks

I am not sure why you are self concious. Invialign is pretty much invisible and my patients tell me other people do not notice the aligners. If you do not wear the aligners as instructed, the end results may not be as desired. My suggestion is to wear the aligners all the time except when eating and brushing your teeth.
