My daughter is now years old. Since she was 4 she has had multiple molar problems. one upper right, one lower left "baby-tooth root canals" with steel caps, one lower right abcess and then extraction (tooth was originally just filled). Last week her upper right capped tooth appeared infected (rear of tooth) and her dentist perscribed antibiotics to get rid of infection. Follow-up appointment today with xray showed further decay. There is NO PAIN at all. He is suggesting that we pull the tooth. This will leave her with no molars on her right side, until her yr old molar grows in some time this year (??), but she will still need spacers and orthodonal work as the perm teeth need space to grow in. I support my dentist's recommendation, but I am concerned that there doesn't seem to be any preventative measures or further explanation for these conditions - I have never had a cavity in my life (37 yrs old). My husband has very soft teeth, but to me this seems extreme. My daughter has drank distilled water all her life, never had floride (we have well water). Should we have her tested for some nutrients she might be missing? Other than regular brushing/flossing, what can we do???? My son is now 4, has the same lifestyle and knock on wood, has yet to have any dental issues. Please help!!!!!!
