I just had my impacted wisdom teeth removed yesterday, and when I awoke this morning I found I really couldn't close my mouth the entire way. It feels like there's flaps of skin I'm biting down on. Is this normal? Also, is there anything else I can do besides icing my face to reduce swelling?

Yes. Contact the treating dentist or oral surgeon. All reputable dentists provide after hours emergency care -- even to answer your questions.
That one dentist knows your status better than anyone on this planet.

Hi, I had just gotten my wisdom teeth taken out about 2 1/2 weeks ago and the swelling was completly gone until yesturday I had ate something on my left side of my mouth which was the last to heal and now my left side of my mouth is huge! almost bigger swelling than right after the surgery, its like a hard ball in my cheek and I can't bite down all the way? what does this new swelling mean ?

I just had my wisdom teeth removed on Thursday. I'm still in a lot of pain and still look like a chipmunk on one side. It's actually my cheek that is swelling and not my gums. That same side that its swelled has also continued to be numb for the past 4 days. The nurse at the dentist office keeps telling me all this is normal but nothing I do takes the swelling down or relieves any pain or numbness. Should I be concerned that there may be something serious wrong?
