I am 28 and had an overbite. I had my lower jaw surgery in May 2009 and I have almost 100% recovery now. What I had was moving my lower jaw forward about 6mm. That was the first time I have ever done a surgery. It took about 4 hours for my surgeon to finish my surgery due to the tightness of my bones. He said I have strong bones and took long to cut it. I stayed in the hospital only one day. I had swelling about 5 days. I did not had any pain at all from the surgery to now. Only difficulty I had was to drink only liquids for two weeks. Other than that I am very happy. I took off from work for two weeks but I was comfortable going to work next day after the surgery but I didnt due to the swelling.

When I was in the surgery room, I got a bit scared and I only remember few minutes in there. I remember looking at the wall clock (it was 12.05pm). When I woke up I was looking for my fiance and worried where she is. I didnt even knew that I had a surgery till I see my self in a mirror. My face was double the size with swelling and my teeth were wired.

I red all of the posts here before my surgery and some of them scared me. Many people told me not to do the surgery and dont take any risk. I took the risk and it work out well for me.

My look has changed a little and I am comfortable with my tooth and it looks awesome. I can recommend this to anyone but you should have a good surgeon. I did mine in Shady Grove hospital, Maryland and my surgeon is one of the best in USA and hes a friendly person.

I am not good at writing sorry. This whole thing was an interesting story that I will remember for my whole life.

Wish you guys all the very best.
