Consider general pain relievers. Other home toothache remedies such as ibuprofens and acetaminophens provide temporary deliverance, and could ease pain spreading from your tooth and gums to other areas in your jaws, head and neck.
One warning: Do not season a bad tooth with ground up pain killers (like aspirin or anything else) applied directly onto your throbbing tooth. This method is NOT an approved remedy for toothache, because it may irritate soft tissues and cause even more dental damage.
